The Presidential Sports Award is a distinguished recognition in the United States, honoring athletes and sports figures who have demonstrated outstanding achievements, exemplary sportsmanship, and significant contributions to the world of sports. Established to celebrate the dedication, hard work, and perseverance of individuals in the sporting arena, this award serves as a beacon of excellence and inspiration for aspiring athletes and sports enthusiasts nationwide.

Coach Decker has always encouraged participation in the Presidential Sports Award because it furthers a number of our “Warrior Lifestyle” goals. First, it nourishes our Judo moral code jita kyōei (mutual benefit). Second, it honors our Bushido ethical code and heritage – unwavering loyalty to family and country.  Third, it pushes us to fortify our bodies.
Several of our students have received the award and proudly wear the patch on their uniforms.

Recognizing the need to honor individuals who not only excelled in their respective sports but also contributed positively to their communities, the U.S. government instituted this award. The primary aim was to celebrate those who exemplify the ideals of athletic excellence, integrity, and sportsmanship, reflecting the nation’s values and spirit.
